Welcome to Maju

Maju is a product of App House Limited ("we," "our," or "us") - a private, intimate space designed to help you truly pay attention to the people who matter most in your life. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our mobile application and services.

By using Maju, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our services.

1. Our Service

What Maju Does

Maju is a personal relationship management app that helps you:

  • Store and organize information about the people in your life
  • Use AI-powered features to generate insights and conversation suggestions
  • Maintain private, secure records of your relationships and interactions
  • Access premium features through subscription plans

Core Features

  • Contact Management: Create and manage profiles for people in your life
  • AI-Powered Insights: Generate conversation topics, relationship insights, and memory prompts
  • Private Storage: Your data is stored locally on your device and synced via iCloud
  • Biometric Security: Optional Face ID/Touch ID protection for your private memories
  • Subscription Services: Premium features available through monthly or annual subscriptions

2. Your Account and Data

Account Creation

  • You may create an account using Apple Sign-In
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
  • You must provide accurate and complete information when creating your account

Your Data

  • Local Storage: Your contact information and notes are primarily stored on your device
  • iCloud Sync: Synchronization with iCloud for backup and cross-device access (managed automatically by the app)
  • Privacy First: We do not access, read, or store your personal relationship data on our servers
  • AI Processing: When you use AI features, your input is processed by third-party AI services (Google Gemini) to provide insights and suggestions

Data Ownership

  • You own all data you input into Maju
  • Your data is stored locally and in your iCloud account
  • You can modify or delete your data through the app at any time
  • Data export is not available as it's managed through your personal iCloud storage
  • We do not claim ownership of your personal information or relationship data

3. AI Services and Third-Party Integrations

AI Processing

  • Maju uses Google Gemini AI to provide insights, conversation suggestions, and relationship analysis
  • When you use AI features, your input is sent to Google's servers for processing
  • AI responses are generated based on your input and are not stored by us
  • We do not train AI models with your personal data

Third-Party Services

  • Supabase: Used for user authentication and rate limiting
  • RevenueCat: Handles subscription management and payments
  • PostHog: Provides analytics and usage tracking (anonymized)
  • Apple: Provides authentication and iCloud services

Rate Limiting

  • Free users have daily and monthly limits on AI interactions
  • When limits are reached, free users are shown an upgrade prompt
  • Premium subscribers have higher or unlimited access to AI features
  • Rate limits are designed to ensure fair usage and service stability

4. Subscription Services

Premium Features

  • Unlimited AI Interactions: Remove daily and monthly rate limits
  • Advanced Analytics: Access to detailed usage statistics
  • Priority Support: Enhanced customer service
  • Additional Features: Access to new features as they become available

Subscription Plans

  • Monthly Plan: Billed monthly at the rate shown in the app
  • Annual Plan: Billed annually with savings compared to monthly billing
  • Pricing: All prices are displayed in the app and may vary by region

Payment and Billing

  • Subscriptions are managed through Apple's App Store
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID account
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
  • You can manage your subscription in your Apple ID account settings

Cancellation and Refunds

  • You can cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
  • Refunds are handled by Apple according to their policies
  • We do not provide direct refunds

5. Privacy and Security

Your Privacy

  • We are committed to protecting your privacy
  • Your relationship data is not stored on our servers
  • We only collect minimal data necessary to provide our services

Security Measures

  • Optional biometric authentication (Face ID/Touch ID)
  • Local data encryption on your device
  • Secure transmission of data to third-party services
  • Regular security updates and monitoring

6. Acceptable Use

Permitted Uses

  • Personal relationship management
  • Storing information about people you know personally
  • Using AI features to enhance your relationships
  • Backing up your data through iCloud (managed automatically by the app)

Prohibited Uses

You may not use Maju to:

  • Store information about people without their knowledge or consent
  • Harass, stalk, or harm others
  • Store illegal, harmful, or inappropriate content
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Attempt to reverse engineer or hack our services
  • Use our services for commercial purposes without permission
  • Manually modify or manipulate iCloud data files (may break app functionality)

Content Guidelines

  • Be respectful and considerate in your use of the app
  • Do not store sensitive information that could harm others if accessed
  • Respect others' privacy and consent
  • Use the AI features responsibly and ethically

7. Intellectual Property

Our Rights

  • Maju and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by us
  • Our trademarks, logos, and brand elements are protected
  • The app design, user interface, and user experience are our intellectual property

Your Rights

  • You retain ownership of all data you input into Maju
  • You have the right to export and delete your data
  • You may use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes

8. Disclaimers and Limitations

Service Availability

  • We strive to provide reliable service but cannot guarantee 100% uptime
  • We may need to perform maintenance or updates that temporarily affect service
  • We are not responsible for third-party service outages

AI Accuracy

  • AI-generated insights and suggestions are for informational purposes only
  • AI responses may not always be accurate or appropriate
  • You should use your own judgment when following AI suggestions
  • We are not responsible for decisions made based on AI-generated content
  • In rare cases, AI may generate inappropriate or harmful content - Maju is not liable for any content generated by AI services

Limitation of Liability

  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim
  • We are not responsible for any loss of data, relationships, or opportunities

9. Termination

Your Right to Terminate

  • You can stop using Maju at any time
  • You can delete your account and data through the app settings
  • Cancelling your subscription does not automatically delete your account

Our Right to Terminate

  • We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms
  • We may discontinue the service with reasonable notice
  • We will provide a way to export your data before termination

10. Changes to Terms

  • We may update these Terms from time to time
  • We will notify you of significant changes through the app or email
  • Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance
  • We will provide at least 30 days' notice for material changes

11. Governing Law and Disputes

  • These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand
  • Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of New Zealand
  • We encourage resolving disputes through direct communication
  • If necessary, disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration

  • International users are responsible for compliance with local laws
  • We may restrict access in certain jurisdictions

By using Maju, you acknowledge that:

  • You have read and understood these Terms
  • You agree to be bound by these Terms
  • You confirm you are at least 18 years old
  • You will use the service responsibly and ethically
